The National Housing Federation (NHF) and the Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH) revealed that they are coming together to launch a flagship new housing conference called The Housing Community Summit: the vision, the plan, the practicein 2024.
With CIH no longer involved in Manchester’s Housing event and replacing the NHF’s annual Housing Summit, this collaborative new event between the country’s two leading social housing bodies will bring together the sector’s biggest stakeholders, most influential politicians and housing leaders and practitioners from across the country to debate and shape the future of social housing.

Kate Henderson, chief executive of the National Housing Federation, said: “This is a hugely exciting moment for the social housing sector. Collaboration will be at the heart of this event – not just between the NHF and CIH, but between a wider range of stakeholders, politicians and residents. It will be our whole housing community, under one roof.
“We are all too aware that the impact of the housing crisis is being felt more acutely, and by more of the population. By launching this one-stop, flagship housing event at this critical time we will bring together a wider range of housing professionals to learn from one another and be inspired to shape a collective vision for social housing and influence the next government.”
Gavin Smart, chief executive of the Chartered Institute of Housing, said: “I am absolutely delighted to be announcing our new joint conference with our colleagues at the National Housing Federation. Bringing together our two organisations to create this flagship event for the housing sector will provide all housing professionals and partners with the opportunity to come together to hear from top class speakers from across the sector, government, politics and beyond. Together we will discuss, debate and learn from each other and develop a shared vision and ambition for our collective future that will ensure we fulfil our purpose to the greatest extent and promote the sector and it’s work to government, politicians and stakeholders. Combining the critical elements of vision, plan and practice it is one that everyone in the sector will want to attend.”
“When we announced that our involvement in the Manchester Housing event was ending, I said that we’d take time to reflect and create an offer that truly reflected the needs of the sector. I believe this new event will more than meet that brief and I look forward to welcoming housing professionals from across the sector to Liverpool next September.
“In the coming weeks we will be making further announcements about how CIH is developing its member offer as we move into new and exciting times.”
The Housing Community Summit will take place on 9-10 September 2024 in Liverpool, and people can register their interest in attending and find out more about the event on the website.
