The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) has opened applications for the 2023 AHR Scholarship.
The RIBA AHR Scholarship has been made possible thanks to the generous support of AHR.
The aim of the scholarship is to address a lack of inclusivity at Part 2 stage of the professional qualification in architecture by supporting talented students who have demonstrated commitment to their studies and to the profession, who might struggle to cover the costs associated with their course.
The scholarship particularly wishes to support students from low-income households.
In 2023, one scholarship of £6,000 will be available to support one student throughout their RIBA Part 2 course in the UK. The scholarship also includes one-to-one mentoring with one of AHR’s architects and insight into an award-winning practice, a 4-week paid work placement at one of AHR’s offices, use of technical resources, and support from a diverse and talented team of practitioners.
Gary Overton, Director, AHR said: “At the heart of our practice is a belief in a fair and inclusive right to education and inclusivity in the profession. The RIBA AHR Scholarship offers a package of financial support, as well as mentoring, a paid work placement and friendship.
“It is a real privilege to be a part of and I’m looking forward to meeting the candidate, sharing their passion and nurturing their talent.”
Simon Allford, RIBA President said: “Schemes such as the AHR scholarship help remove barriers to those pursuing an education in architecture and are a crucial part in opening the progression profession, so it better reflects the diverse society it serves. I’d like to thank AHR for their continued financial support and urge all those eligible for the scholarship to apply.”
The deadline to apply is Friday 19 May 2023. Further information and details of how to apply can be found here.
