The Façade 2023 Design and Engineering Awards recognise and reward excellence and achievements in façade engineering, raising the profile of, and drawing attention to, the importance of this discipline in modern architecture.
Prioritising sustainability in façade design and engineering, this year’s awards include Project of the Year (UK and international) – Sustainability.
Categories also include new build, refurbishment, and innovation, each awarding one UK and one international project.
Last year’s Project of the Year – Sustainability for the UK was Arup, with 1 Triton Square (pictured above), for its work in modernising a 1990s structure against wellbeing, community and futureproofing targets.
AECOM were recognised in the international sustainable project for the Gillies Hall Student Accommodation in Melbourne, Australia - the largest PassivHaus certified project in the Southern Hemisphere.
The Awards also recognise the future thought leaders in façade engineering and design. The Young Façade Engineer of the Year category recognises the next generation of façade engineers in the UK and internationally, who have more than two and less than five years of related experience. The judges will be assessing the individual’s contributions to the industry and their organisation.
This year’s expert judging panel is chaired by Chris Macey, CEO of Wintech Group, one of the founding members and past chairman of the Society of Façade Engineering. Chris received last year’s Lifetime Achievement Award.
For the second year, the awards will be co-located with the Zak World of Façades London conference.
The SFE Façade Awards & Dinner will take place on 8 November 2023 at the Hilton Park Lane, London. The awards are also proudly sponsored by UK New Build category sponsors Patrick Ryan Associates.
