With a striking view of one of the world’s busiest airports, the offices of Air Canada feature Rudiments Clay Create carpet planks from IVC Commercial.
Air Canada’s Heathrow office has a spectacular view of the airport’s runways and is the working home of more than 60 colleagues. The airline called in design and fit-out specialist, 3-Space to create an interior that reflected its brand, and which could withstand constant use from staff and visitors.
IVC Commercial’s Rudiments carpet planks in the Clay Create design were presented to Air Canada during a finishes meeting as a solution for the main desking areas of the office space. Proposed by 3-Space in two colourways, after seeing full size samples of the striking pattern, Air Canada chose the grey and earth combination of Clay Create 987.
“The client wanted a carpet that was modern and effective but also neutral, so IVC Commercial’s Rudiments Clay Create design was a great solution,” says Leanne Scarfe, senior project designer. “Letting Air Canada’s signature red colour pop in accents and complementing the maple wood finishes, we’ve laid Clay Create 987 in the longest direction of the building to emphasise the amazing view of the runways.”
Part of the Rudiments collection which celebrates flooring materials like clay, stone and wood, Clay Create is a playful random pattern with a shifting colour that can be used in transitions from one area to the next, or simply to add elegant detail. Made with 100% solution-dyed nylon, it answered Air Canada’s need for a carpet plank that would stand up to heavy use and fight off stains and marks.
Leanne continues: “We’re huge fans of IVC Commercial’s flooring as there’s a great range of designs to cater for all our clients’ needs. We knew that Rudiments Clay Create could fulfil the brief for a modern design, while also meeting Air Canada’s desire for a hardwearing and easy to maintain floor, so we had no hesitation in putting it forward. What’s more, the price and availability was great.”
A total of 560m2 of Rudiments Clay Create carpet planks were installed by 3-Space.
