A unique townhouse development in Nottingham City Centre is due to start construction this summer.
Fruit Market, which will be delivered by Blueprint, specialists in the development of sustainable homes and workspaces, will begin with the first phase of 13 townhouses and follow a low-energy, design-led ethos.
The new homes will be completely gas-free, with air source heat pumps and underfloor heating, making the scheme one of the most energy-efficient, future-proofed housing developments in the city.
Responsible for some of the region’s most critically heralded property developments, Blueprint works with award-winning architects to create thriving and diverse communities.
Four of the 13 homes in the first phase of Fruit Market have already been sold, with the future homeowners working with Blueprint before planning was submitted and customising the design of their houses.
Centrally located, the scheme will offer buyers the opportunity to live in Nottingham's creative and cultural hotspot, Sneinton Market. Formerly a wholesale fruit and veg market, in recent years the area has become home to independent shops, breweries, art galleries, and a refurbished leisure centre, it is now one of Nottingham’s liveliest and most popular communities.
Alec Hamlin, development manager at Blueprint said: “Having worked on Fruit Market behind the scenes for a few years now, I’m really pleased to see it move into construction. There isn’t another project like it in the city and I’m sure the homes will be highly sought after.
“At Blueprint, we put a special focus on making all our homes energy efficient and with a strong design focus; large windows, lots of natural light and with thought as to how people will use both the indoor and outdoor spaces. The properties at Fruit Market bring all those features to a location that is within walking distance of Nottingham’s best cultural amenities and we look forward to seeing the scheme progress over the months to come.”
Blueprint is supported by igloo Regeneration and work on Fruit Market will soon be starting on site, with the new homes coming to market in 2023. The development will follow igloo’s trusted Footprint approach, a United Nations-recognised sustainable investment methodology, ensuring that each of its schemes is highly sustainable and designed to positively impact people’s wellbeing and the planet, creating great places for people to enjoy, both now and in the future.
