Solum Regeneration, the joint venture between Kier Property and Network Rail, has completed the sale of its third and final residential block at its Twickenham Gateway scheme to Meadow Partners.
Solum has now sold 82 of the 121 residential units available to Meadow
Partners, a private real estate investment firm, as well as 4 retail units. The
remaining 39 residential units have been privately sold.
Solum’s Twickenham Gateway scheme has been delivered on and above the live
railway on Network Rail land, supporting the government’s aim for high quality
residential development to be delivered on key transport hubs, reducing
pressure on the surrounding greenbelt and allowing reinvestment back into
ageing rail infrastructure.
In addition to the 121 new homes, the development has delivered c£9m of rail
related infrastructure improvement, including a new landmark train station
building, improved platform access, a new public realm hosting shops including
Sainsburys and M&S coffee for residents and the public to enjoy alike.
Tim Shaw, Head of Solum commented: “This mixed-use residential scheme has been a long time in the making. It has proved it is possible to deliver regeneration above the live railway. We are delighted to have opened the new train station and public realm which look fantastic and offer the travelling public a state-of-the-art rail facility, much improving and upgrading the previous outdated facility. We are also pleased to have completed the sale of the final two residential blocks to Meadow Partners, completing our part in re-vitalising and regenerating this important part of Twickenham”
Robin Dobson, Group Property Director for Network Rail Property added: “We are proud to have delivered through our Solum Joint Venture the regeneration of the station and new customer facilities centred around a new mixed-use residential development and town square. and to now be completing the sale of the final phase to Meadow Partners.
“It’s a project that demonstrates the pivotal role the railway can play in unlocking development sites which deliver growth, putting transport infrastructure at the very heart of the development.
“We’re delivering it through a public and private partnership, an approach we are replicating in other towns and cities across the country. It will provide long-lasting benefits for the local community and the region.”
