James Taylor
James Taylor has been with the company for over 10 years as a Project Engineer for the Drawing Office in Lisburn. He works closely with clients and architects to create bespoke specifications, producing detailed drawings based on the design intent.
James said: “I enjoy working for Door Group mainly because of the culture of the business and its people. We have a wealth of knowledge from a very experienced and dedicated team. Customer service is our main focus, therefore we aim to provide the best quality product in a timely fashion to meet both the customer’s expectations and their hand over dates.”
“The Project Engineering team has a very friendly atmosphere, and everyone tries to help each other by sharing their experiences on the various projects they have worked on previously. There’s a strong team bond within the Drawing Office and we regularly meet up socially too.”
Andre McCarron
Andre McCarron joined Door Group in 2021, around the same time he graduated with a master’s degree in Product Design Engineering.
Andre explains his day-to-day job: “My role as Project Engineer is one of communication. While some people may think that it is a simple design role, it is much more than that. It involves communicating with the customer to understand their needs and create a specification that we are able to manufacture to fit their requirements.
“Communicating and managing any issues that arise throughout the process is crucial - our team here in Lisburn act as a single unit, so being able to understand and communicate effectively is essential.”
Sam Wright
Sam Wright joined Door Group in 2011 as an apprentice, and within three years he had completed his qualifications to become a Project Engineer. His role initially involved managing small trade projects, which then grew to larger scale operations and more in-depth projects.
Sam now plays a vital role in creating new processes within the design office to further streamline day-to-day processes for the business. He comments: “Completing an apprenticeship benefitted my career as it gave me real life experience working with fully qualified engineers, while gaining a qualification.
“I have been with ASSA ABLOY for more than 10 years now, and the support my team offers is invaluable. We help each other with any issues that arise in work and have a great relationship outside of work too. ASSA ABLOY also offers a great package in terms of heath care, pension schemes and general employee care, and it’s a very rewarding and positive company to work for.”
