Ecocity has announced the theme for its 2023 World Summit: Connecting Communities.
Taking place on 6-8 June 2023 at the Barbican Centre in London, the hybrid event will investigate the critical role of collaboration in creating sustainable cities.
It aims to support collaboration across sectors, disciplines, localities, cultures, and economies in tackling social, economic, and environmental issues globally.
The Summit’s programme will focus on four key topic areas:
In September 2022, Ecocity will launch an online portal for ideas, research, and projects for the Summit. The open call will identify concepts and applied thinking that support the theme of Connecting Communities by showcasing examples of innovative co-design approaches, co-curation practices, and participatory placemaking.
Proposals can come from any type of organisation. An academic committee will review and select submissions for presentations, posters, and papers to form part of the Summit proceedings.
London Ecocity World Summit is led by New London Architecture (NLA) in partnership with London & Partners, the Barbican Centre, MCI, and Ecocity Builders. The Summit will bring together a network of academics, innovators, professionals, activists, and political leaders from across the world. The London Festival of Architecture 2023 will provide a platform to engage the public in the Summit’s themes.
Further details of the submissions process and criteria will be available later in July. Sign up for updates via ecocity-summit.com.
