National Federation of Builders (NFB) has launched its Women in Construction Top 100 Influencers at their Construction Summit.
The Top 100 Influencers aims to showcase the most influential women and non-binary role models in construction as well as those ally’s affecting change.
In construction, only a small proportion of roles are held by women (15%) and even fewer have on tool jobs. Whilst it’s important to appreciate that the industry has changed a lot and has begun to challenge stereotypes and shift perceptions to become more inclusive, it is also important to recognise that there is a lot more work still to be done.
This year marks the start of real change for the industry. The Top 100 Influential list is industry wide and part of the NFB’s Women in Construction Programme, aimed at showcasing female and non-binary role models at all levels within the industry, from apprentices and rising stars to Directors. The categories include those unsung heroes by region, the influential list, one to watch, allies, advocates and many more.
Danny Clarke, Commercial Director at NFB commented: “At the NFB we support all of industry and showcase excellence where possible. It is therefore fundamental to open these awards to the whole of construction and not just NFB members, this will help showcase the amazing work being undertaken to affect change throughout construction.
“We believe this is crucial in breaking down stereotypes and highlighting that diversity is important for people currently in the industry but also for encouraging potential recruits that construction is both a viable and rewarding career.”
Nominating your Top 100 Influencer is free and easy to do through a simple online nomination form https://forms.office.com/r/yYZfMHZvk3. Nominations close on the 3rd June at 17.00 and the shortlist will be judged by an independent panel of expert judges with the finalists announced in July 2022.
