Wates Residential, has been appointed by Brent Council to create 99 new council homes in Church Road, Church End, which is set to help transform the area.

As part of this regeneration scheme, there will be a new market square and a range of shops at the site where a car park once stood.

Part of Wates Group, one of the UK’s leading construction, property services and residential development companies, Wates Residential will start construction this month, with the homes due for completion by 2025.

The £30m project is part of the council’s Masterplan for Church End. By 2041, the area will boast 1,300 new homes along with hundreds of new employment and training opportunities and improved infrastructure. This particular project in Church End will enable Wates and Brent Council to invest in the local community through the generation of 16 apprenticeships and a minimum of 20 objective-based work placements for local people.

Helen Bunch, Executive Managing Director, Wates Residential, says: “These new homes in Church End will be safe, warm and comfortable places for local people to thrive in. We believe everyone deserves a great place to live, and an important part of this is the far-reaching economic, social and environmental benefits to local people and businesses that we will be generating along the way.

“Having recently successfully delivered 149 homes for people in Brent at Knowles House and Anansi House, we are delighted to be building on our legacy and bringing our brand of regeneration back to the borough.”

Despite challenges brought about due to the pandemic, Wates handed over the homes at Knowles House and Anansi House to Brent Council nine weeks early. During the programme, a foodbank was created at Newman Catholic College and a total of 766 young people were engaged in educational projects with nearly 17,000 hours invested in employment and training.
