The Landscape Institute (LI) is attending the MIPIM conference in Cannes for the first time, taking its message straight into the heart of the property industry.
MIPIM is a major four-day conference and networking event that each year brings together over 15,000 property professionals from around the world.
After cancellation in 2020 and 2021, this year’s event interrogates the theme of ‘driving urban change’, with a focus on the ‘essential value of liveability, sustainability, resilience, and affordability’.
If the industry is to meet its (soon to be compulsory) net zero, biodiversity, and decarbonisation targets, attract funding, and appeal to an increasingly carbon-aware market, the voice and expertise of landscape professionals are essential.
The LI is sending four senior representatives to the biggest and most influential event in the property calendar. Building on our presence at COP26, the LI delegation will continue to push green infrastructure, green investment, and landscape skills to the top of the agenda.
The LI team will consist of President Jane Findlay, Vice President Noel Farrer, Chief Executive Sue Morgan, and Head of Membership Services Naomi Taylor.
‘Climate change is happening now,’ said LI President Jane Findlay. ‘Our global society demands infrastructure; but urgent environmental and social pressures demand it be green infrastructure. We need designers, planners, managers, and more who specialise in natural solutions. It has never been more crucial to put investment in green infrastructure at the forefront of the conversation.’
‘Investment is a massive part of the MIPIM conversation,’ added Landscape Institute Vice President Noel Farrer. ‘We want to make sure that green investment is a primary concern, not an afterthought.’
Chief Executive Sue Morgan said, ‘It’s vital that we represent our 6,000 members across the landscape profession. In taking their voices to events such as MIPIM, and joining membership bodies from the UK and worldwide advocating for their industries, we can influence the conversation and fight for the best possible outcomes for people, place, and nature.’
