Designed by interior designer, Marco Carini, Bebop is a statement cork tile that brings geometric 3D patterns to commercial interiors, bring a natura and sustainable way to create high-impact walls.
Made from pure agglomerated cork that’s protected from water and stains with Corkguard® for easy maintenance and durability, Bebop comes in a deep black that shows cork’s natural aesthetic. By using the different size and thickness of tile across the wall, you can create a geometric pattern that forms in intensely dark shadows.
Bebop is created from the production waste of cork insulation panels for roofs and walls. In this process, cork granules are exposed to high temperatures and pressures to expand and improve thermal insulation characteristics. The finished product is known as pure agglomerated cork as there are no external binders required, or black cork as the steamed cork gets a charcoal colour. During this process there is some waste and offcuts that are recycled. Granorte harnesses this recycled re-granulated cork for Bebop, giving the wall panels their distinctive black appearance.
Bebop is part of Granorte’s 3D Forms collection of three-dimensional wall tiles. An assortment of designs that use form over three axis, 3D Forms is made possible by cork’s lightweight structure. In Bebop, Granorte provides 300 x 900mm and 150 x 900mm panels available in thickness of three, six and nine-millimetre. Adhered directly to walls, the tiles are formaldehyde-free, PVC-free and phthalate-free.
Cork trees can live for up to 300 years and have their bark harvested every nine or so years, waiting for it to grow back fully before being stripped again. The hand-process is low-impact and causes no damage to the tree, making cork-based products a truly sustainable and long-term renewable resource.
