The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) has published a new Technical Information Sheet entitled “Managing Temporary Works”.
Most construction work requires some form of temporary works and they can make up a significant proportion of a project’s cost.
As such, it is vital that temporary works are considered and designed-in as early as possible. Both can positively impact on cost, time, quality and safety.
The new Technical Information Sheet explains how temporary works can be well managed, focussing particularly on the role of the Temporary Works Coordinator, but summarising the responsibilities of other important duty-holders involved in builds of all sizes.
It gives a summary of what temporary works are and what management controls should be followed on projects, useful for those working on small-medium-large projects.
