The Brick Development Association has revealed the shortlisted projects for the 2021 Brick Awards to be held on 10th November 2021.
This has been a record year for entries to the Awards, particularly since the 2020 Awards was cancelled as a result of the Covid Pandemic.
A total of 15 categories make up this year’s awards with the winners unveiled on 10th November 2021, at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, Lancaster Gate, London. The shortlist reflects some of the most innovative and accomplished projects completed during the awards time-frame.
Hilary Satchwell will be returning as Head Judge at the 2021 Brick Awards. An architect, urban designer and masterplanner who brings strategic leadership to a broad range of housing and mixed-use projects that prioritise placemaking and people, she is a founder director of Tibbalds Planning and Urban Design, a consultancy set up in 2003 to continue the legacy of Francis Tibbalds’ philosophy of ‘making people-friendly places’.
“I am really excited to be leading the judging panel for the Brick Awards 2021,” she said. “Over the past year brick continues to be used extensively across an increasing range of projects reflecting its robustness and flexibility.
“I am really looking for projects that move forward both how we make places, and how we make buildings - with a clear interest in the detail that comes with this great material used well. The real delight of the brick awards for me is looking at schemes from across the UK in a broad range of contexts, uses and delivered in so many interesting ways."
She will be joined by a judging panel of industry experts and added: “One thing that I love about the Brick Awards is that it is an opportunity for the panel of architects, planners, brick manufacturers and brick specialists to review projects together.
“We have a great cross disciplinary panel of judges for this year’s awards and I know that they will give really careful consideration to all of the submissions leading to some really robust discussion and debate which I look forward to chairing.”
