Eight entries to the Riverside Sunderland University Design Challenge (#RSUDC21) have been shortlisted for a live judging event on Wednesday 30 June 2021.
All interdisciplinary entrants, including those shortlisted by professional architects, engineers, quantity surveyors, planners, carbon consultants, and landscape architects, and from which winners will be picked by our industry leading judges, can be viewed on the RSUDC21 Youtube and CTI website.
The competition brought together students from right across the UK to collaborate during what has been a challenging year for many, with the judges stunned by the imagination, talent and passion which has been displayed by the teams.
Future thinking designs reimagine how residents might live, work, and play together in beautiful, low-carbon, multi-generational housing made with timber and timber hybrid systems which connect with nature, the history of the area, and work in harmony with the ecology of the river.
Entries from the students seek to foster a sense of community and sustainable lifestyles through their design, build and material selection, with all elements working together to achieve the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge targets.
