Panthera Group is proud to announce its EnviroHoard™ system is now Net Zero Carbon Verified. A first for the UK construction industry, EnviroHoard™ has gone through an extensive cradle to grave Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), in accordance with the European wide standard EN 15804:2019.
In addition to the system being Net Zero Carbon, EnviroHoard™ comes with additional climate positive benefits, tree planting and carbon offsetting for every metre installed.
A Life Cycle Assessment considers the consumption of energy and materials, plus the release of emissions throughout the supply chain. This is taken all the way back to their extraction from the earth, transportation, material production and through their product lifetime, ending with the waste management activities. This is completed to get a more holistic perspective. For EnviroHoard™, this provides the embodied carbon footprint of producing and installing the system.
Net Zero Carbon, also known as carbon neutrality, requires a detailed carbon footprint assessment, in accordance with international standards. Once this baseline is established, the remaining embodied carbon is mitigated, through carbon offset projects around the world. The carbon offsets were from Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and Gold Standard projects and have benefits in all 17 of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This balances the embodied carbon emissions, down to Net Zero Carbon.
Neal James, Managing Director of Panthera Group commented “This marks months of hard work by our team, it demonstrates our ambition of eliminating the use of timber, and particularly plywood, for the use in construction site hoarding by 2025.”
James goes on to say “For the first time, Main Contractors can now choose a Net Zero Carbon, closed loop hoarding system over timber and painted plywood hoarding. They will improve their BREEAM, CEEQUAL and Considerate Constructor scoring, but more importantly they will be helping to stop 20 to 30-year-old trees being cut down to be used in the construction of short-term site hoarding.”
To support the sustainability credentials of EnviroHoard™ even further, we can now confirm it has just been chosen by RiverLinx CJV, a joint venture of experienced civil engineering companies, including Ferrovial Agroman, BAM Nuttal Ltd and SK Engineering Construction Ltd, as their preferred hoarding system to secure its Silvertown Tunnel project.
