The Construction Leadership Council has published an update to Roadmap to Recovery, its plan to restart and reinvigorate the UK construction industry in response to COVID-19.

Roadmap to Recovery was published in July 2020 following development with leading trade organisations from across the sector. It set out how the industry could restart work, reset activity to get back to normal levels of productivity, and then reinvent the sector to build back better in the long term.

This update shows that there has been good progress to deliver on all these objectives. As the industry moves out of the restart phase there has been success in ensuring workers are safe whether they are working on site, in an office, in a builders’ merchant or in a production facility.

CLC also states that it pleasing to see many organisations are working with their customers and supply chain to support each other, seeking to avoid disputes that could otherwise cripple the sector

“But with COVID-19 prevalence now rising again in all parts of the UK, it is vital that the industry maintains this collaborative ethos,” said a spokesperson. “There is still huge opportunity mapped out in Roadmap to Recovery that will need collective action to deliver. This comes at a time when we will also need to make sure all employers are ready for the EU transition in January 2021.

“We will be providing further regular updates on the recovery plan in the coming months. We want to thank everyone for their commitment to getting us to where we are today. The construction industry has shown remarkable resilience and adaptability and we hope that this will continue in the coming months.”
