Clay Brick… Building a Sustainable Future for the UK.

Latest News Fri, Jun 12, 2020 9:47 AM

Whilst the impact of the Coronavirus continues to hit hard in many parts of the UK economy, the UK Clay Brick making industry is working hard to remind people as to how building in a traditional manner, with sustainable, robust, natural and long-lasting products, really does have a positive impact on everyday lives.

The Brick Development Association has launched a new infographic and short video explaining the enormous benefits that building with clay brick brings to people’s lives and to supporting everyone’s efforts in driving down carbon emissions, waste and costs, whilst at the same time maximising return on your investment in a home built of clay brick.

This is particularly important as we emerge from lockdown into a ‘new normal’, which will mean people wanting to live and work more in homes, offices and commercial premises that are flexible, long lasting, adaptable and that has the least possible impact on the planet’s resources over the lifetime of the building.

Keith Aldis, Chief Executive of the Brick Development Association, said:

“Every home, office, commercial and industrial building is different and the expectation from most people nowadays is for there to be as little impact on the planet’s resources as is possible, from all types of building. This is why clay brick is an ideal building and cladding material. It’s flexible, adaptable, natural, safe, fireproof, re-useable and frankly, it’s the best looking of all materials. Investing in things ‘as safe as bricks and mortar’ is coined for a reason! And as a long-term investment, it pays back dividends every time and has less of an impact on our planet’s limited resources, as many other construction materials.”
