Green Urbanisation e-Roadshow plots the way to a resilient future
As a result of the Covid crisis, Polypipe Civils & Green Urbanisation has transformed its Realising Resilience – An Introduction to Green Urbanisation seminar events, postponed from earlier this year, into an exciting e-Roadshow programme of virtual experiences with strong regional dimensions.
The Realising Resilience e-Roadshow virtual seminars – hosted from a specially-built studio within Polypipe’s Loughborough site – brings together industry-leading specialists from the worlds of architecture, landscape architecture, utilities, engineering, environmental consultancy and urban master planning to deliver critical intelligence across green infrastructure, flood and drought resilience, urban realm landscaping and wellbeing.
The seminar speakers and topics all have strong regional themes, allowing the audience to pick not only subject matter but also the environment most relevant to them. Examples include, in the north west, Delivery of GU in Greater Manchester (feat. Blue Roofs); Policy and Master Planning for Biodiversity, GU and SuDS in London in the south; and Green Urbanisation and Active Travelin Scotland.
The Realising Resilience e-Roadshow series launches with the Manchester event on June 17th, and shifts its focus weekly thereafter to Wales, Birmingham, London and Scotland.
The Manchester guest list includes speakers from United Utilities, environmental services consultancy The Environment Partnership, Great Manchester Combined Authority and the geo-environmental engineering design practice The Environmental Protection Group.
Free to attend, the online seminars include up to four keynote speakers, plus an open Q&A, with participants able to register questions throughout the sessions for consideration at the end.

Green Urbanisation is a breakthrough that enhances the resilience and sustainability of urban development. It defines a new range of combined water management and green asset technologies scalable to any size project – from a single plot to a catchment-wide solution.
Helping mitigate the impact of climate change and population growth, Green Urbanisation networks green assets and water collection, management and storage to deliver smart water usage, increased biodiversity, enhanced flood and drought resilience, and greater human wellbeing. It also plays a valuable role in carbon capture and offset.
This will require a new collaborative approach from the earliest stages of planning and design, involving architects, landscape architects, engineers, infrastructure and water management specialists.
The Realising Resilience e-Roadshow of virtual intelligence experiences brings together not only Polypipe’s own in-house expertise in this important area, but also wider perspectives on policy, green infrastructure, wellbeing and blue and green roof delivery.
