Structural waterproofing specialist Delta Membranes has credited BBA Certification of its products with ‘opening doors’ to the specification and use of the hi-tech solutions, leading to greater product acceptance and increased sales.
The Essex-based manufacturer recently achieved BBA Certification for Koster NB 1 Grey, a Type A barrier protection system for waterproofing below ground structures. On the back of Certification the company secured a 2,000m2 specification for an earth retaining wall project in Scotland.
Delta Membranes Managing Director Christopher Burbridge said: “BBA Certification of Koster NB 1 is a significant milestone for this excellent product. We believe it will provide specifiers, architects, engineers and contractors with even greater confidence when specifying the solution into their structural waterproofing projects.”
The manufacturer also made use of BBA Test Services to have the product rigorously tested – and test data analysed – to confirm Koster NB 1's compliance and suitability to provide a robust Type A barrier protection system for the lifetime of the building provided it is designed and installed correctly.
BBA Project Manager Graham Corley said that because the product installation process involves brush or spray application it was fundamental for the BBA to witness both onto test samples. Delta demonstrated each application process at the BBA’s test facility in Watford, Hertfordshire.
Christopher Burbridge added: “Utilising the BBA’s Test Services enabled us to advance our product development, pre-assessment, product analysis, bench testing and full compliance testing. “We very much appreciated the assistance received from the BBA teams working alongside our product research and development team to ensure the testing and certification process went smoothly. At every stage BBA staff sought to explain the process in order to facilitate fulfilment of testing and product certification.
“Our mission is to provide honest, expert advice and to ensure peace of mind and satisfaction to our customers and their customers every day. BBA Agrément Certification is a standard that supports our business ethos and strenghtens Delta's credentials. We will continue to lead the field in structural waterproofing and hope to have more products certified by the BBA,” said Christopher.
A BBA spokesman said Delta was a great example of how a client can combine the expertise of BBA Test and Certification experts to thoroughly assess and prepare a construction product for Certification: “We always advise manufacturers considering Certification to work with us from an early stage in a product’s R&D schedule in order to lay the groundwork for Certification. Our involvement can provide a framework to assist the development programme and help manage the amount of product testing required, delivering potential cost and time savings. It is a service open to all of our clients and many make use of it, working closely with us to bring new building solutions to market or developing existing products to incorporate technical advancements. We are more than happy to discuss what is possible with clients.”
