SPSenvirowall’s RendaClad, the perfect solution of choice utilised to transform a vacant site in Blackburn for Powys based ModularWise Complete Off-Site Solutions.
This unique project features a mix of 73 modular homes consisting of two, three and four-bed houses and bungalows for Blackburn City Council. Manufactured by complete off-site solution firm ModularWise, the units are timber-framed and BOPAS accredited making SPSenvirowall’s RendaClad System the perfect fit.
The new homes are built using a clever factory process inside ModularWise's 120,000 square foot factory in Knighton. Utilising timber battens to create a ventilated cavity allows the timber frame to breathe. This is followed by the application of SPSenvirowall’s 9mm RendaClad boards, EnviroRend polymer basecoat, reinforcing mesh and SpeedySlips brick slips.
Once built, the modules are then transported to site for quick assembly. This clever process means that slow cumbersome structural work is taken off the critical path, making this project one of the first to use this revolutionary technique within the offsite sector.
SPSenvirowall supplied approximately 6,500m2 of its RendaClad System consisting of 9mm RendaClad board, Envirorend and a mixture of flexible SpeedySlips. The Belgium Mix brick slip colours create a vertical stack bonded feature panel which includes a mid-band soldier course while the main façade consists of the cut brick SpeedySlip.
Due for completion in May 2020, the modular scheme will deliver 73 much-needed homes which will be available for affordable rent by regeneration company, Places for People.

Design Feature
SPSenvirowall’s SpeedySlip brick slips provided the solution to constructing a modular house without the use of traditional bricks. SPSenvirowall’s flexible slips enabled this feature to be created easier and faster than the traditional method and in addition, providing a greater range of brick colour choice. SpeedySlip’s lightweight and flexible composition truly opens-up the possibility of design and fast offsite construction.
High Quality Façades
SPSenvirowall’s SpeedySlips are handmade from the highest quality of raw materials, which ensures the traditional and natural appearance of a brick finish. SpeedySlip has undertaken extensive certification and is accredited under BBA, KIWA and BOPAS. It offers options to be used with Mineral Wool, EPS and Phenolic Insulation, some with or without a cavity and is suitable for use onto carrier board in our RendaClad system.
Range
In addition to a standard range of colours, SPSenvirowall offers a bespoke service to offer a larger range of elegant colours, delivering a natural appearance and an effective interplay of colours every time. SPSenvirowall brick finishes are also available as a clay option, offering the flexibility of a brick slip system with the traditional look, durability and feel of real brickwork and like SpeedySlip, is also A2 fire rated.
