In this, the Brick Awards’ 43rd year, the brick industry begins its search for the very best examples of brick architecture and brickwork in the UK’s built environment.
This enduring and highly-respected awards programme invites entriesuntil the 31st of May, from architects, developers, specialist brickwork contractors and house builders.
Last year, over 330 entries made for 15 hotly contested categories and, with some 600 guests attending the presentation ceremony, the Brick Awards generated widespread interest from across industry, press and the general public.
Among the 2018 winners, the coveted title of Supreme Winner was awarded to the stunning Storey’s Field Centre designed by MUMA architects, which bowled over judges with its playful use of brick and assured attention to detail, finish and form.
Judges were also impressed by Maccreanor Lavington Architects’ work on Royal Albert Wharf, awarding the project best Large Housing Development. The carefully articulated series of buildings sit around generous public spaces that animate one of East London’s disused docks.
The materiality and use of brick on the different buildings generates distinct characters for each, which are in keeping with the industrial past while also bringing colour and finesse to the area: A great example of UK manufactured brick being used in a new high-quality, sustainable housing scheme.
The 2019 Awards ceremony will take place at the Royal Lancaster London, Lancaster Gate on 13th November 2019. To enter this year’s awards please visit www.brick.org.uk/brick-awards
