British Ceramic Tile has made a strategic new appointment to its Board, announcing John Chater as commercial director.
It has also has made a key appointment within its specification channel, recruiting of Liam Poole as its new head of specification marketing.
A new senior position within the business, John will assume responsibility for the company’s sales, marketing, design and product development departments, with a focus on driving forward the company’s impressive portfolio and brand across the housebuild and specification markets.
After 20 years of working with large branded food businesses including Coca-Cola, Refresco & Tulip, John has an impressive record of managing commercial and marketing teams, and developing long term strategic business goals. He joins British Ceramic Tile from one of the UK's fastest growing businesses, Musclefood, an e-Commerce operation, where he expanded the brand into the competitive retail and wholesale channels.
British Ceramic Tile’s Chief Executive, Tony Taylor, said: “John comes from the food industry and brings considerable expertise that will complement our existing skill set as we continue to grow our business in 2018.”
On joining British Ceramic Tile, John added: “It’s a great time to join the business with plenty of challenges and opportunities ahead. The company has some big goals to achieve, but our focus is firmly set on supporting our specification customers bringing them products that meet their needs and a service level which is second to none.”
Formerly a domestic brand manager at Marshalls PLC, Liam Poole has extensive experience working across brand campaigns and strategic plans, ensuring businesses fully understand the needs of their customer. Liam brings with him a wealth of knowledge in delivering strategic marketing campaigns having held a number of senior marketing roles in the last 10 years.
He will be responsible for strengthening the brand’s presence within the architecture, design and housebuild sectors, ensuring the specification channel consistently offers a market-leading product portfolio alongside an exceptional customer service.
Following his appointment, Liam said: “The channel’s main ambition is to raise awareness of the brand within its target market. As a British manufacturer, we are in prime position to leverage the capacity of our Devon-based factory to develop bespoke solutions and propositions for each of our customers.
“This industry will face tough challenges in years to come with Brexit, labour shortage and pressure from increased housing developments, so it is our job as manufacturers to develop our products and services inline with these factors, and keep our current and potential clients satisfied.”
Liam will report to BCT’s Commercial Director, John Chater, who added: “Liam will become central to the specification channel, communicating our services and sheer scope of our business to customers across the housebuild and A&D markets. 2018 is the year in which we will maximise our potential within the specification channel with Liam set to deliver a tailored understanding of what our customers need, and what we need to do to offer the best possible solution within the tiling market.”
