The LABC has strengthened its relationship with insulation specialist Actis by choosing it as one its high-profile sponsors for 2018.
Actis, which already has LABC registered details, as well as LABSS registered details and NHBC approval, will sponsor the LABC for the coming year.
The arrangement will see Actis involved in regional LABC awards, present a prize to the winner of one of 12 categories at the largest annual B2B awards in the UK construction industry - the LABC Building Excellence Awards - in November, present technical seminars at around ten regional roadshow events for architects, designers, builders and surveyors throughout the year, and take part in the annual LABC conference in March.
Actis is the manufacturer of the CE marked Hybrid range. The fact that all three of these mix and match products have both LABC and LABSS registered details means they can be accepted with confidence by all LABC building surveyors in more than 300 local authorities in England and Wales and all 32 authorities in Scotland when used according to the certification.
The three products in the range - honeycomb insulation Hybris, insulating vapour control layer HControl Hybrid and insulating breather membrane Boost’R Hybrid –have been praised by architects, builders, specifiers and installers for their cleanliness, ease and speed of installation, lack of waste, lightness and ease of transportation as well as their impressive thermal performance.
Their flexibility and therefore ability to bend around corners and squash into gaps means HControl Hybrid and Boost’R Hybrid in particular are excellent at eliminating thermal bridging and ensuring air tightness.
Actis has also created two CPD modules on tackling the performance gap, which have proven very popular with building control officers across the British Isles, an online simulator which provides a handy guide to the kind of U-values likely to be achieved by using its products in various scenarios and a raft of how to videos.
Actis Hybrid users, once they have discovered the products, often become evangelical in their determination to use them on future projects.
One recent client, Ellie Peart from Timber Frame Design and Build, said: “We always encourage our clients to use the Actis range of products - quite simply because they do a marvellous insulating job, produce minimum waste which is easy to dispose of and they are easy to install – and to round it off, Actis insulation is excellent value for money.”
Architect and Actis UK and Ireland technical director Thomas Wiedmer added: “We’re thrilled about our new partnership with the LABC which provides us with an excellent opportunity to share our technical expertise with colleagues across the construction industry.”
LABC business development director Anna Thompson added: “‘LABC is delighted to welcome Actis on board as part of our team of national sponsors and we look forward to working alongside them on many projects in the future.”
