CA Roofing Services, along with CA Group's specialist cladding division SCS, has announced completion of work on phase one of the £140m Rushden Lakes development in the Nene Valley, Northamptonshire.
The retail, leisure and tourism destination, when complete, will include a 14-screen cinema, cycle hire, indoor trampoline and climbing facility as well as restaurants and access to some of the UK’s biggest high street shopping brands.
Both CA Roofing Services and SCS worked closely with main contractor Winvic to deliver phase one, which is focused on the retail side of the development. The teams worked on multiple buildings throughout the complex including the three 70,000 sq ft terrace buildings, which make up the main shopping areas, and three 15,000 sq ft restaurant buildings, situated adjacent to the lakeside.
Danny Nelson, Business Delivery Director for Winvic, explained: “This is a landmark project for Winvic. Rushden Lakes will house some of the most recognisable UK brands including Boots, Marks and Spencer, Next and Primark.
“Our objective from the outset has been to deliver the highest quality work within the timeframe set by the client. This has meant working with partners, such as CA Roofing Services and SCS, who are both experts in their field. It has been a true collaborative effort that has drawn on the expertise of all of those involved. We are delighted with the look and feel of the project.”
Michael Cinnamond, Divisional Manager for SCS, explained: “The various buildings, which make up phase one of Rushden Lakes, showcase a range of different skills. From standard, pre fab boxes serving as boat houses and stores, which have been transformed by wooden cladding to match their lakeside surroundings, to high-end restaurant and cafe facilities which feature an abundance of glass, enabling diners to take in the view.”
The project features a range of specially fabricated PRIME rainscreen panels in multiple finishes including stonework and timber cladding. Designed by CA Group’s Rainscreen division, working closely with the project team, the panels give the development a unique appearance.
Steven Forster, Sales and Estimating Director for CA Roofing Services, concluded: “As a business, we have worked closely with Winvic for a number of years but this was the first time we have collaborated on a retail development. With such a high profile project, involving so many stakeholders, there were a number of priorities.
“These included ensuring any bespoke design requirements made by the tenants were met, creating a high-end finish with attention to detail at every step and keeping to the strict time scale which had been allocated. Working closely with the team at SCS, I am very pleased to say that we were able to tick all of these boxes and the end product looks fantastic.”
