Onyx Solar, global leader in photovoltaic glass, opened its factory in 2014 and in a quite short period of time, the company has obtained the most prestigious quality certifications.
Onyx Solar is completely aware of the huge importance of safety when working with electrical installations as well as when working in construction. Therefore, it constantly endeavors in keeping its commitment to the strictest security guidelines, thus becoming a true reference.
The company has deployed in its production process an Integrated Management System that has obtained the respective certifications according to the ISO 9001:2005 standard (Quality Management), and the ISO 14001:2015 standard (Environmental Management). In doing so, Onyx Solar’s excellence in design and production of photovoltaic glass for building integration is recognized and awarded.
Due to the high quality of the product, Onyx Solar’s thin film glass has obtained the certification corresponding to the UL 1703 & ULC/ORD-C1703: “Standard for Flat-Plate Photovoltaic Modules and Panels” standard. This is a total hit in the sector! No company until now had been able to certify, under the standards of UL, photovoltaic glass of extra-large size and semi transparency as the ones Onyx Solar manufactures.
Moreover, TÜV NORD lab has certified Onyx Solar’s crystalline glass according to the IEC 61215:2005 standard “Crystalline Silicon Terrestrial Photovoltaic (PV) Modules - Design Qualification and Type Approval” and IEC61730 2004:1&2 standard “Photovoltaic (PV) module safety qualification - -Part 1: Requirements for construction & Part 2: Requirements for testing”.
In addition, in order to prove how the product properly follows the most stringent safety standards in construction required for architectural glass, Tecnalia lab has tested our crystalline and amorphous silicon laminated glass in accordance with the requirements of the UNE-EN 14449:2006 standard: “Glass in building - Laminated glass and laminated safety glass - Evaluation of conformity/Product”, a benchmark standard in the field of architectural glass for building integration. All tests turned to be a great success.
Among the most notorious tests, those on impact resistance (UNE-EN 12600:2003 standard) stand out, where the company has achieved the highest score. Impressive as well are also the tests for resistance to manual attack (UNE-EN 356:2001 standard), where the company's amorphous silicon glass has achieved a P4A outstanding score.
Likewise, an awesome result has been obtained in the tests to measure resistance to extreme climatic conditions (UNE-EN ISO 12543-4:2011 standard), in which the glass is exposed to deep humidity levels and high temperatures, conditions under which our glass has entirely preserved its laminating quality.
