Expert training provider, Exova BM TRADA, will be hosting a Timber Frame for Engineers course on Wednesday 2 November.
The course will cover the fundamentals of timber frame construction and is specifically designed for engineers, timber frame designers and architects.
As timber frame becomes an increasingly competitive option in the construction industry, due to its quality, sustainability and speed of build, knowledge of the key elements of timber frame design, engineering and manufacturing is essential for engineers and architects.
This one-day course incorporates an introduction to timber construction, including timber frame, SIPs and engineered timber; methods of construction, such as open panel, closed panel and volumetric; processes for identifying various system components; differential movement; the manufacture of elements; and best practices for connecting elements.
It will also cover the principles of timber engineering; guidance on both British and European standards; identifying the key characteristics of timber and related materials; and examples of engineering input and design to support the concepts discussed.
The training will be conducted by Dr Keerthi Ranasinghe, Principal Structural Engineer and Eurocodes Consultant for Exova BM TRADA. Dr Ranasinghe has a wide range of experience in structural investigations and regularly delivers CPD talks and workshops on Eurocode 5 at the Institution of Structural Engineers, UK.
