Washroom's one-of-a-kind changing rooms

Designer and manufacturer Washroom Washroom, has created a truly unique changing area at a new luxury central London health club.

Third Space, which already has three clubs in London, has recently opened a fourth at Tower Bridge, overlooking the Thames.

Each club combines training, spa, medical and nutrition facilities under one roof and have all been individually designed with exceptional facilities to inspire its members.

Washroom worked closely with both Third Space and main contractor Vincent Stokes to install all four new changing areas as well as additional joinery works around the poolside, in a project worth more than £200,000 to Washroom.

The striking new changing rooms, in line with the Third Space philosophy, have been designed to look and feel more like a boutique hotel than a gym. The bespoke design and use of more unusual materials including copper, Ted Todd end grain feature wood panels and Zodiaq stone ensured this vision became a reality.

A stand-out feature is the bespoke diamond pattern design on Washroom’s Luminoso glass shower cubicles. Manufactured from 10mm low iron toughened glass with obscured white screenprint to the reverse of each panel, the full height Luminoso cubicles offer a striking shower solution befitting of this luxury health club setting.

The new changing areas also feature grooming shelves manufactured in Zodiaq stone, which comprises 93% Quartz and is designed to catch and reflect light as well as providing exceptional strength and durability. Equally durable is solid surface Corian, which was used for the vanity units, in a bespoke trough design with individually shaped, slightly sloped sinks. Both the grooming shelves and vanity units also feature distinctive Ted Todd feature wood panels and copper edged mirrors fixed to a glossy black glass panel system.

With ironing stations and hanging units as well as Suitmate swimwear dryers and towel drop units, both finished in a mix of Ted Todd feature wood panels and Zodiaq stone to complement the rest of the design, the changing rooms provide everything club members need to feel completely refreshed and relaxed.

Washoom installed a full glass panelled end wall as a feature at the poolside, while its specialist joinery division also designed and installed Iroko panelling and benching in the pool’s thermal suite area.

Ian Mahoney, Third Space chair commented: "The team at Washroom Washroom worked exceptionally hard to deliver all the elements of this design to the high standard our members expect. We’re thrilled with the completed changing areas and have already had some great feedback."

Trevor Bowers, director at Washroom Washroom, commented: “It was a real pleasure to be involved with this unique project, working with such a mix of materials and finishes, something our bespoke service was perfectly suited to. Everything about Third Space is designed to turn preconceived ideas of a standard gym on its head, and the new changing rooms certainly fit with their unconventional approach. I am exceptionally proud of the team and am delighted with the end result.”
