Newhey Carpets, a leading British manufacturer and designer of innovative, high performance and sustainable commercial carpets recently supplied over 2000 square metres of Colortec+ carpet for the Hotel Savoy, Prague.
The luxurious 5 star hotel, situated in the diplomatic area of Prague, underwent a huge refurbishment in 2015. The hotel, which can be found in a 19th Century converted cinema, boasts 49 spacious elegant guestrooms and 7 stylishly furnished luxurious suites.
Newhey worked in partnership with professional floor layers Barkotex, based in Prague, to create a solution for the Restaurant, bar, lounge, library, corridors guestrooms and suites.
The carpet designs were tailored to match up with the Art Nouveau styling, which is on show throughout the newly renovated hotel. With the glamorous rotunda in the lobby and tasteful décor throughout the hotel, it’s not surprising that the hotel has been named as one of the Leading Small Hotels of the World since it’s refurbishment last year.
Bruce Willis, R.E.M, Princess Caroline of Monaco and David Bowie are just some of the luminaries to stay here.
The bespoke carpets were created using 2 pieces of innovative technology only available on Newhey’s carpets. Firstly, Colortec+ technology was used allowing a complex design to be implemented into a durable carpet solution able to cope with the high footfall of a busy hotel. Colortec+ is tufted using computer yarn placement technology.
The carpet also features Newhey’s secondary backing system ‘evobac’, form of sustainable backing technology, exclusive to Newhey, made using 100% recycled plastic bottles which is applied at their factory in Rochdale.
The Hotel Savoy project is part of a rapidly expanding portfolio of International Installations recently completed by Newhey, including Intercontinental Al Jubail, Abu Dhabi & Accor Hotels Ibis Styles Geneva.
