Uponor, one of the largest manufacturers of underfloor heating systems in the UK, is backing BEAMA’s ‘Ask for Underfloor’ industry campaign, aimed at offering both the trade and end-users an impartial information platform on UFH.
Independent research on over 1,000 homeowners carried out by the campaign highlighted that over 70% of respondents would like to improve their home, with 58% aspiring for a home which is energy efficient.
UFH was the top ‘aspirational feature’, ahead of air conditioning, a double garage and a Jacuzzi, with 40% of those aged 25-34 and a third of those aged over 55 wanting to have it installed. 65% of all surveyed would also pay at least £2,500 extra to ensure it would be installed in their next home.

A water-based system is one of the most energy efficient ways of heating a home, and when paired with a renewable heat source, it can also be one of the most cost-effective.”
Almost a quarter of homeowners have shied away from underfloor heating as they didn’t want the disruption of having floors dug up, indicating there is a considerable lack of awareness of UFH’s retrofit capabilities.
