Timloc introduces next-day delivery service

Timloc, one of the UK’s leading building products manufacturers, is introducing a next-day service on its most in-demand types and sizes of preformed leaded cavity trays, beginning in January 2015.

This means that products in Timloc’s core range of leaded cavity tray systems will be delivered the next working day for orders placed before 12.00pm, in line with their core unleaded cavity tray ranges. This is for mainland UK orders only – excluding Scottish Highlands.

The move to improve delivery times and product stock levels is a result of the growing demand for preformed leaded cavity trays. The new, faster service will be available on preformed cavity trays supplied with factory-fitted lead flashing, to suit the most popular roof pitches, and un-leaded trays, supplied with a mortar barrier strip to assist in installation of post-fitted lead flashing.

Timloc’s Technical Director Phil Harvey said: “More house builders, brickwork contractors and specifiers are switching to preformed cavity trays after issues that they’ve had to resolve when previous DPC methods have failed in the increasingly severe wet weather conditions that we continue to experience. They want to capitalise on the benefits, convenience and reassurance of preformed cavity trays.”

Leaded preformed cavity trays are one of the most effective forms of DPC, particularly in specific vulnerable areas across the building, such as external cavity walls abutting with roof projections such as extensions, attached garages and conservatories. Providing an effective wall cavity DPC, particularly for pitched roof and forming corner applications, is extremely hard and time-consuming to form on site. However, preformed trays give the benefit of a quicker, consistent, reliable and more straightforward installation.

Lead flashings can be fitted after the cavity trays have been installed, however this can be hard to do to ensure that the lead is fitted adequately and effectively. The quality of finish and accuracy of site cut to pitch lead is also very much dependent on the skill of the person undertaking this – which can often result in a poor quality and finish. The installation of separate lead flashings is also often undertaken by a separate trade person, which adds additional time and cost to the project.

As Timloc’s leaded preformed cavity trays and lead flashings are installed in one operation by one installer, they offer consistent protection and aesthetic finish across the project, as well as reducing the opportunity of lead roll material wastage.

Timloc understands that some customers approach preformed cavity trays with some reluctance. However, the team will gladly visit customers to provide direct installation and specification advice – free of charge. Timloc’s customers also benefit from the assurance of the company’s free project take-off and plot specific consignment services.

Part of the Alumasc Group, Timloc has been supplying the construction industry with high-performance building products since 1968. Based in Goole, East Yorkshire, the company manufactures a wide range of products including access panels, cavity trays, cavity closers, fire and acoustic stops, roof ventilation, loft access, underfloor and wall ventilation.

All production is carried out under the BS EN ISO 9001 Quality Management System and BS EN ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.
