The NEA Annual Conference is taking place in Harrogate in September

A great deal has changed in the fuel poverty arena over the last year and although Government statistics recently showed a drop in the number of fuel poor households, they also show that the depth of fuel poverty is increasing.

The Conference will provide a timely opportunity to discuss the Government’s anticipated announcement of a new definition of fuel poverty, the progress of the Green Deal and Energy Company Obligation and help inform a new Fuel Poverty Strategy, the consultation for which is expected around the time of Conference.

Conference aims to bring together policy informers and makers with practitioners at all levels from community organisations, Green Deal and other heating and insulation installers, local authorities, health workers, major energy utilities, Distribution Network Operators, researchers and academics, a broad range of private sector companies who provide products and services to support the energy efficiency market and others who are interested in the field of fuel poverty from a commercial and policy perspective.

The conference will enable delegates to discuss and debate the opportunities and challenges that lie ahead and contribute to a common understanding of the challenges faced by vulnerable energy consumers across the UK and of the scale and type of remedial action required to address these problems. As always we have some expert commentators to inform us and stimulate debate.

Running alongside the event will be an exhibition of products and services that offer some of the solutiosn to tackling fuel poverty.
