ROCKWOOL’s new insulation range brings clarity

ROCKWOOL Ltd, a leader in stone wool insulation, has introduced a new range of products – Thermal and Sound Insulation.

Targeting the small to medium size contractor, and designed to clarify and simplify the insulation category, the range focuses on two clearly defined applications; Thermal Insulation and Sound Insulation.

The benefits of Thermal Insulation and its application are well understood and documented. Acoustics or Sound, is becoming a more important consideration in the domestic arena with ageing housing stock, greater urbanisation, increasing noise pollution from roads, rail and air plus the wider adoption of domestic electronics, TV and surround sound systems in the home.

With its dense, non-directional fibre structure, ROCKWOOL’s new Sound Insulation offering effectively traps sound waves and dampens vibration to provide an enhanced noise reducing solution both between adjacent properties and between rooms within the same home.  The launch of a focused Sound range presents clear opportunities for the contractor to up sell their offer and add value.

“We believe our approach brings clarity and opportunity for the contractors in this category,” says Ed Peltor, Commercial Director at ROCKWOOL UK. “By bringing a fresh definition to the category, we can help contractors find the best insulation for a particular application. As construction practices evolve and our lifestyles change, there is a growing demand for sound insulation and with this new range and ROCKWOOL’s support we can help contractors capitalise on that opportunity.”

ROCKWOOL can help contractors bring the ‘experience’ of better sound insulation to life thanks to a new team of demonstrators. These Contractor Sales Specialists will drive training initiatives at store level, directly support contractors in trade days and visit sites to tangibly demonstrate the core benefits of Sound, Thermal, Fire, Moisture Resistance and Fit.  Additional support includes videos, point of sale and brochure information and a dedicated area of the ROCKWOOL website. All products feature bold new packaging, with a strong ROCKWOOL brand presence, clear communication of the product type and its benefits alongside important information on the intended application, dimensions and coverage information to enable easy and rapid product selection.

ROCKWOOL Sound and Thermal Insulation is simple to install thanks to its FLEXI edge technology fitting which eliminates gaps, holds its shape and ensures the insulation always performs to specification for the lifetime of the building. As ROCKWOOL insulation is manufactured from stone, it also provides unmatched fire resistance and a Euroclass A1 Fire Rating.  The new range is able to meet and exceed Part L (thermal), Part E (sound) and Part B (fire) of the Building Regulations, when installed in accordance with the ROCKWOOL guidelines.

The company will provide clearly marked 1200mm Sound Insulation slabs in four multiple pack sizes. A twelve slab 600mm width x 50mm thickness, an eight slab 600mm x 70mm pack; a six slab 600mm x 100mm and a six slab 400mm x 100mm pack. These insulation slabs  provide sound and fire protection in internal and separating walls and floors in applications including home offices, studies, bedrooms, bathrooms and TV, media and gaming rooms.

The new Thermal Insulation range will be supplied in 1200mm length slabs, at 140mm thickness x 600mm width and 100mm thickness x 455mm width, alongside the Thermal Roll, which is pre-split to provide either 100mm or 200mm thickness at 1200mm width and 2750mm length.
