ROCKWOOL completes its comprehensive HVAC line up

ROCKWOOL Ltd, a leader in stone wool insulation, has introduced an innovative new product to complement its already comprehensive range of HVAC solutions.

ROCKWOOL HVAC Slab is a versatile product solution that provides thermal and acoustic insulation for a variety of HVAC applications, including warm air and extract ducts. HVAC Slab offers a multitude of uses for applications where foil facing is not required, and works in harmony with the complete ROCKWOOL range of slab products.

A semi-rigid insulation batt with a nominal density of 45 KG/m³, ROCKWOOL HVAC Slab can supply both thermal and acoustic insulation applications for boilers, ducts and vessels. Recommended for service temperatures of up to 230°C, HVAC Slab is suited for a range of general thermal applications including furnaces, ovens, calorifiers, hot-water boilers, storage tanks, drying equipment and air conditioning plant.

The required thickness of HVAC Slab insulation will depend on factors such as air duct and ambient air temperatures, as well as the designed heat losses. Supplied in batts which measure 1200 mm x 600mm, HVAC Slab is available in three thicknesses of 40, 50 and 60mm to suit the application and level of performance required.

Made from stone, with a dense, non-directional fibre structure, ROCKWOOL effectively traps sound waves and dampens vibration, making HVAC Slab highly acoustically absorbent.

Stonewool is also naturally fire resistant, delivering impressive non-combustible properties and superior fire resistance. ROCKWOOL HVAC Slab achieves the highest Euroclass standard, an A1 rating, with BS EN 13501-1 and fully complies with all UK and Ireland Building Regulations.

The launch of HVAC slab coincides with the realignment of ROCKWOOL’s range of slab products to deliver a clear application focus. Incorporating sector specific features and testing, the range aims to provide the best value and most appropriate products for each market. ROCKWOOL’s comprehensive slab range offers the advantage of a whole system approach, enabling the contractor to select a suite of products and be confident of them working harmoniously together.

The complete portfolio of ROCKWOOL slab products now comprises RW Slabs, Ductslab, HVAC slab and the ProRox range of slabs and caters to several different markets. Tested to BS EN 13162, RW slabs are suitable for general building use. Ductslab and HVAC slab are designed for the heating and ventilation market, tested to BS EN 14303 and suitable for use up to 230°C. The ProRox range of slabs is tailored specifically to the Industrial Market. Tested to BS EN 14303, these are suitable for applications up to 650°C.

“ROCKWOOL HVAC Slabs are an excellent new addition to our range of slab products, filling a gap in the market for a multi-purpose H&V slab,” comments Matt Bromley, Product Manager at ROCKWOOL. “Thanks to the overall changes to our slab range, we now offer clear solutions for all sectors and applications, ensuring the optimum product for every project.”

Available for rapid 48 hour delivery to site via ROCKWOOL’s extensive UK distribution network, HVAC Slabs are supplied shrink wrapped in polyethylene and on pallets that are shrouded with a waterproof hood suitable for outside storage.

HVAC Slab is supported by ROCKWOOL’s Technical Solutions team, who are able to provide detailed advice on the full scope of its fire performance, BIM modelling and ensure optimum value engineering for all projects.
