Redland is introducing a new tile colour to its hugely successful Rosemary Clay Craftsman range after seeing an increase in demand from customers.
The Victorian colour is much darker and grittier than the original Albury and Hawkhurst colours giving roofs a greater depth of texture and character.
A unique manufacturing process gives the newly-released Victorian colour the look and style of a premium heritage tile combined with the strength and reliability of modern-day manufacturing. The Craftsman Victorian, with its distinctive black patterning and pitted surface imitates a well-weathered tile.
Launched in 2013 to mark the 175th anniversary of the first-ever Rosemary tile being sold in the UK, the Craftsman range replicates the aesthetics of genuine handmade clay tiles. All Craftsman tiles have a textured surface and underside, combined with textured and sanded sides and front edge. Other characteristics are the irregular front edge distortion and varying hanging length.
David Patrick, head of marketing at Redland, said: “Despite only being available for 18 months, the Rosemary Clay Craftsman range has proven itself to be highly popular with our customers, particularly those involved with refurbishments and renovations and small house builders.
“The new colour has been introduced as a result of market research we carried out with a selection of our customer base. They told us they liked the Craftsman tiles but wanted a darker, more aged-looking tile to fit in with areas of conservation, particularly around the South East. We have given them what they asked for.”
