According to the latest figures, November has the highest claims for burglary in England and Wales.
Furthermore, in the run up to Christmas, UK households will spend an average of £593 on Christmas gifts.
With electronics being a popular present, houses are at risk of break-ins; according to data from Direct Line, mobile phones and tablets are on the list of the top 10 items favoured by burglars. With 73 percent of burglars gaining entry through a poorly secured door, installing accredited door hardware such as P C Henderson’s Securefold Ultra hardware is crucial to ensure that homes are protected against forced entry.
Fergus Pickard, Product Development Director at P C Henderson, comments: “As a hardware system manufacturer, it is our responsibility to provide the highest quality sliding door hardware components that are strong, safe and secure. Whether staying at home or going away to enjoy festivities, more and more people are demanding secure solutions that do not compromise on aesthetics and energy efficiency, matching their aspirational living requirements.”
Securefold Ultra is tested to the British PAS24 and the European standard, EN 1627 to ensure that the system has enhanced security features which protect the hardware against mechanical loads and human attack. Further to this the system is accredited by Secured by Design (SBD), an organisation operated by the Association of Chief Police Officers that follows rigorous testing of the complete product to make sure it meets the latest security standards.
The principles of SBD have been proven to achieve a reduction of crime risk by up to 75%. Their objective is to reduce burglary and crime in the UK through physical security and processes. Products carrying the Secured by Design certification have been rigorously tested to withstand forced entry.
Furthermore, P C Henderson’s Securefold hardware range is weather and corrosion-resistant to provide a durable product and ensure long-term security. Made from 316 marine grade stainless steel, the hardware has undergone tests for air tightness, water tightness and wind resistance. Seals are also used to guarantee that the door is further protected from external elements. When the doors are closed, these tests confirm that properties are thermally efficient, keeping the heat in and the cold out.
