It has been claimed that as long as central government and regional public sector bodies continue to rely on the current private sector for sale led delivery as the main method of housing policy then they will continue to miss the targets mapped out for house building.
This claim came after the announcement that the GLA is considering a move to directly deliver housing in London to increase housebuilding.
It is clear that the UK has fallen behind on house building targets over recent years - with targets increasing year on year. It is now predicted that a total of 250,000 homes need to be delivered annually in order to tackle spiralling house prices and the critical shortage of affordable homes.
The housing crisis calls for the need for a mass volume of homes to be constructed in a limited time scale and whether the state takes on housebuilding, or if it is left to private house builders, the benefits of offsite construction could be crucial to meeting targets that have repeatedly been missed.
Offsite construction offers many clear benefits to enhance our housing industry. These benefits will be discussed at the Explore Offsite Housing event, being held in Birmingham on 07 July 2015. From the future of public sector housing to mixed use and private sector investment and the technologies on offer, this combined conference and exhibition will provide the critical analysis that industry experts need to develop their strategies and consider alternative methods to deliver sustainable, energy efficient homes, at a lower cost and a faster pace.
Speaker at Explore Offsite - Dr Ashley Lane, Group Partnerships Director of Persimmon Homes Group, commented on the event: ‘This is an excellent opportunity to discover ways of successfully delivering in a consistent manner a higher rate of housing completions'.
The event will focus on industry issues such as keynotes from the new government on its ‘manufactured housing' priorities, discussions with public and private sector clients on their initiatives and case studies of live projects, from the teams delivering them.
Over 250 industry innovators will be in attendance at the event alongside circa 30 offsite technology manufacturers who will create the complementary exhibition.
Tickets for Explore Offsite are just £95 +VAT and include; entry to the conference and exhibition, car parking and lunch and refreshments throughout the day.
