Heat pump monitor holds major benefits for social housing providers

Danfoss Ltd, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers of heat pumps, has introduced a new remote monitoring facility, which means housing associations can monitor heat pumps in tenants’ homes, providing greater reassurance that they are being used correctly and efficiently.

‘Danfoss OnLine’ is a reliable and innovative tool for remotely controlling any Danfoss heat pump via a smartphone or computer, wherever you are in the world, which can be monitored either by the housing provider, heat pump installer or tenant. If anything unexpected crops up that needs to be fixed, the housing provider or installation engineer will be alerted immediately via their smartphone or laptop, which means any remedial action can be taken.

It also means major benefits in terms of saving time when it comes to repairs, which can be fixed quickly and remotely, without the need for tenants to call for repairs and maintenance support.

Chris Dale, Director of Danfoss, said: “The new Danfoss OnLine system has huge benefits for social housing providers and is available as an option on any product from the Danfoss range. It can also be retrofitted to any heat pump bought from Danfoss in the past four years. Danfoss OnLine gives social landlords extra peace of mind that their systems are operating at optimum efficiency and being used properly, as well as reducing the carbon footprint of properties. This has huge implications both for tenants and for social housing providers.”

As well as enabling online monitoring, Danfoss OnLine can also allow the user to lower and raise the temperature of the heating in the home, which is useful when tenants are away on holiday. Data sent from the heat pump is stored on an external server which can be accessed online at any time from any smartphone or computer anywhere in the world.

Danfoss OnLine can be connected directly to existing broadband connections, quickly and simply. The innovative system keeps the user up-to-date with the status of the heat pump and change settings, such as mode, temperature and calendar, via the smartphone application or PC.

Danfoss OnLine is designed for quick and easy installation, by simply connecting the device to the internet using an Ethernet cable from the heat pump to the home’s router. The system works with all Danfoss’ current domestic heat pumps and can be retrofitted to any Danfoss domestic model which has been manufactured since 2008.

For those who prefer an engineer to monitor the system, a Danfoss-recommended installer can plug into the heat pump directly and carry out any necessary adjustments remotely, saving time and expense.

Danfoss is one of the UK’s leading heat pump manufacturers and has a network of approved installers throughout the UK who are trained in the installation and maintenance of its ground and air source heat pumps.

The company has extensive experience in the manufacture of heat pump systems for schools, community buildings, developers, local authorities, housing associations and self builders.
