As the countdown continues to the Vision London exhibition on the 2nd and 3rd of June, Newton Waterproofing Systems is excited to reveal more details of both its involvement in the exhibition, and the innovative new product that architects, specifiers and clients in attendance will be treated to, Newton 403 HydroBond.Hosted at the Olympia Conference Centre, Vision London is the industry-leading event through which new and inventive ways to achieve better building design and comply with changing legislation are presented. Newton’s ingenious new external waterproofing membrane, 403 HydroBond, will be at the forefront of this carefully curated exhibition of cutting-edge products on show, with its own dedicated exhibition space in the exclusive New Product Zone, an area restricted to exhibitors who are presenting only the most innovative solutions from across the entirety of the built environment. HydroBond is a very high performance composite sheet membrane that features a locking fleece to one side and a polymer hydrophilic coating to the other.
Over 50,000m2 of HydroBond Installed Across Europe
The product’s practical benefits have already been trialled and proven in real-world situations, with approximately 50,000m2 already installed on domestic and commercial sites across Europe in 2014 and 2015
BDA Certification
Newton’s confidence in 403 HydroBond is further reinforced by BDA Agrément Certificate BAB 14-031/02/A, which provides the product with a gold-standard certification that is widely recognised by architects, specifiers and engineers across the industry, as well as by professional bodies including the National House Building Council and Local Authority Building Control.HydroBond Case Study: Waterproofing A Housing Development
Crest Nicholson were responsible for the development of Park Avenue in Sunbury-on-Thames, a combination of 193 apartments and spacious executive homes. The site was the old training grounds for London Irish Rugby club. Newton 403 HydroBond was applied to this development to provide a complete waterproof envelope to the structure to provide a Type A (barrier) waterproofing solution suitable for Grades 1, 2 and 3 as defined by BS8102:2009.
Result
- HydroBond is suitable for use around below ground reinforced concrete structures, and the self-healing and fully bonded membrane protects the slab from water ingress via shrinkage cracks
- Heavy objects can be placed on top of HydroBond. If the membrane is damaged/ punctured by 10mm or more a simple repair can be made by applying a patch and securing with HydroBond tape
- Once HydroBond has been laid on to the oversite substrate, reinforcement steel can be placed on top ready for the concrete
