Daikin launches a fully invisible VRV air conditioning solution

Offering a dedicated solution for banks, shops and other light commercial businesses, the new VRV IV i-series is the first VRV air conditioning outdoor unit for indoor installation. Optimised for use in city centre areas, the new VRV IV i-series offers all the benefits of high comfort and high energy efficiency from a standard VRV IV system, but with the added advantage of virtual invisibility at street level.

Designed to achieve total concealment, the new VRV IV i-Series provides an efficient solution and a wider range of properties where space, installation flexibility, need for business continuity and building control compliance have been barriers to updating a buildings HVAC system

The unique split concept of the new VRV IV i-Series, together with its lightweight and compact design, provides the advantage of discreetly installing both indoor and outdoor units unobtrusively and within proximity of each other. This removes the need to dedicate expensive floor space to the system, having to position the outdoor unit inconveniently away from the building to avoid visibility or invest in heavy installation costs and cause disruption.

The lightweight, compact compressor unit uses only 600x550mm of floor-space and weighs just 80 kg. With exceptionally low noise, operating at 47dBA, this unit has been designed to fit unobtrusively into back office areas, storage rooms or kitchen cabinets to maximize commercial floor space. The equally compact condenser unit can be installed in ceiling spaces for a completely streamlined look, which can operate in a commercial environment but serviced out of view from customers.

Providing easy access for maintenance without disrupting customers, or neighbours, the VRV IV i-Series is quick and easy to install. Full compliance with planning and noise regulations makes the VRV IV i-series the ideal solution when new outlets need to be fast-tracked for opening.

Designed with comfort in mind and offering high seasonal efficiency (up to 28% higher than previous series), the new VRV IV i-series maximises energy efficiency to reduce running costs. A patented V-shaped heat exchanger in combination with Daikin’s unique and market-leading Variable Refrigerant Temperature (VRT) technology eliminates cold draughts by continuously adjusting temperatures to match weather conditions.

Easy to use centralised controls help ensure precise zone by zone comfort while saving on energy. With the use of VRT the system tracks usage and adjusts temperatures automatically, avoiding drafts, and maximising seasonal efficiency. Multiple systems can be configured and controlled either on or off site. In addition, Daikin’s intelligent i-Net energy visualization tool collects data to allow a comparative analysis across a range of properties of uses while providing effective energy management and further provide an additional tool for clients looking to attain the maximum cost efficiencies.

With the widest range of indoor units now available to fit individual needs, up to ten of these can be connected to the centralised controller to meet the needs of larger buildings. Where a total air conditioning solution is required, the VRV IV i-Series may be combined with ventilation units and/or the Biddle air curtain.

Developed by Daikin specifically to address the planning constraints of city centre locations, the new VRIV i-Series offers efficient, cost-effective and environmentally friendly climate control for urban buildings that were previously unable to take advantage of advances in HVAC technology.
