Coloured glass from Gx Glass has been used as part of the luxurious new changing rooms installed at a prestigious central London leisure centre.
The Reebok Sports Club, the UK’s largest luxury health club, has recently undergone a multi-million pound, state-of-the-art refurbishment over three phases, including a contemporary new design for the shower and changing areas.
Set over 10,000 sq ft, its facilities include a 23 metre pool, five exercise studios, luxury spa and a restaurant with stunning views over Canary Wharf.
Gx Glass supplied manufacturers and installers, Washroom Washroom, with more than 250m2 of 10mm ColourX laminate glass for the new shower cubicles, as part of the refurbishment.
Painted to a vibrant green, as specified by the client to complement the unique, contemporary design seen throughout the club, the glass was used to manufacture Washroom Washroom’s high specification Luminoso Glass cubicles. The new cubicles make a striking addition to the changing rooms, which were designed to help visitors relax and unwind after a gym session.
With 10,000 members, a key consideration was to ensure the new facilities were durable enough to withstand the rigours of a high traffic environment. By using coloured toughened glass supplied by Gx Glass, which also features waterjet cut outs and clear vision panel, the shower cubicles are as robust as they are aesthetically pleasing.
Trevor Bowers, director at Washroom Washroom, said: “This was a prestigious project which demanded a high specification finish throughout and with the shower cubicles forming a key part of this one-of-a-kind design, they had to be perfect. We opted to use ColourX glass from Gx Glass as it not only looks great, but is also incredibly tough, making it perfect for use in a busy leisure centre.”
