When it came to specifying materials for a new build development of sustainable homes in Leyton in East London, energy efficiency was a top priority.
With high standards expected throughout the development, high performance PIR insulation from market leader Celotex has played a significant part in creating thermally efficient homes.
Built by Quadrant Construction for L&Q, one of London’s largest residential developers, the Beaumont Road development will consist of well-designed homes for people on a range of incomes. The development of 117 flats and houses has been designed to minimise energy consumption and environmental impact through a number of features and energy-efficient design, aiming for all the homes to meet Code for Sustainable Homes Level 3 and CO2 savings of 25%.
Following close consultation with the Celotex Technical Centre, specialist contractor Braddon Contracts specified 1500m2 of Celotex FR5000. Supplied in a thickness of just 60mm and 100mm and installed between the Metsec SPS pre-galvanised steel framing system, Celotex helped the project to achieve the BREEAM rating of ‘Very Good’ and a Level 3 rating under The Code for Sustainable Homes.
Delivering an exceptional lambda value of 0.021 W/mK, Celotex FR5000 is a ‘best in class’ PIR solution and has an ‘A+’ rating when compared to the BRE Green Guide, British Board of Agrément Validation and Class O fire performance. Featuring Celotex IQ, providing super low emissivity values, FR5000 is the perfect solution to achieve better U-values and thinner solutions.
Over 100% more thermally efficient than many mineral fibre products and up to 10% better than typical PIR, FR5000 has been developed specifically for use in pitched roofs, floors and walls to meet the increasing demands of specifiers who require unparalleled product performance, achieving thinner build-ups and enhanced U-values.
Celotex FR5000 enables the specifier to achieve better U-values and thinner solutions and has a consistent lambda of 0.021 Wm/K across all the product’s thicknesses, making the specification choice a simple one.
