Brio, the leading manufacturer of interior and exterior folding door and window architectural solutions, is providing Bill’s Restaurants with quality, robust and highly engineered hardware for its iconic folding doors as it rolls out new sites across the UK.
Regional Joinery, based in Cardiff, South Wales, has been operating for over 10 years providing expert and professional joinery services across Wales and England. These services include bespoke windows, doors, stairs and roofing for both domestic and commercial clients. Commercial clients include pubs, shop fits, offices, schools and hospitals – and now Bill’s – after Chameleon, the main contractor for the new Bill’s sites, called on Regional Joinery to manufacture and install bi-folding and/or sliding doors in the new restaurants.
Bill’s Restaurants started off in Lewes, East Sussex growing from a small greengrocer’s shop into a much loved and appreciated quality greengrocers-cum-café. In Bill Collison’s, founder of Bill’s, own words: “We became a bit of a sensation. Often with more luck than judgement, we set out to create something amazing, with great food, a real buzz, and plenty to look at - a place for everyone. We had a lot of support - from our customers and suppliers, and from the lovely people who came to work with us.” That initial success in Collison’s home town led to Bill’s expansion into a chain across England.
Bill’s interiors are an eclectic mix of refectory and old dining furniture, light fittings sporting shades made from recycled continental food cans, traditional candelabras on the tables and exposed ductwork on the ceilings – what could be best described as industrial mixed with shabby chic. A big feature of the restaurants, which tend to be light and airy spaces, is the use of huge barn like sliding doors or glazed timber folding doors whenever possible, depending on the architectural restrictions of the building itself which tend to be older and therefore more characterful and quirky.
Steve Dare, of Regional Joinery, says: “In the majority of Bill’s projects we have used Brio Weatherfold 4s bi-folding hardware and/or Timberoll 200 straight sliding hardware. We have already completed a large number of doors for the company with many more to do going into next year. We have already done numerous including as far south as Kingston and Camberley in Surrey to Manchester, York and Liverpool in the north.
Quality and good performance is incredibly important to both Bill’s and Regional Joinery’s ethos, so the joinery company uses Brio products because “the hardware does everything they say it will do. As well as the quality of the product, which is extremely robust, I am also impressed with the technical back up and know-how from Brio.” says Steve Dare.
Brio Weatherfold 4s fixings have been developed for residential and commercial top hung exterior folding doors where weatherproofing of the opening is required. Weatherfold 4s 50, 75 and100 hardware is suitable for timber door applications and when extra corrosion resistance is required can be supplied with precision stainless steel bearings. The hardware will accommodate 8 panels folding in either direction.
Clean lines, smooth operation and flexible functionality make the Weatherfold 4s systems for timber doors suitable for many applications with a wide range of configurations.
Brio Timberoll 200 is an external bottom roll sliding window and door hardware system for maximum panel weights of up to 200 kilograms designed to run on brass bottom rails. The Timberoll 200 system slides on two self-levelling double bogie rollers rebated into the base of each door panel. The full stainless steel construction of the rollers and precision stainless steel bearings offer superior rolling performance making the Timberoll 200 ideally suited to coastal applications, which means it is tough enough to use anywhere.
David Newton, General Manager of Brio UK says: “Brio Weatherfold 4s and Timberoll products are built to be extremely robust with a rugged construction that is eminently suited to the extremes of British weather.”
“Architects, specifiers and manufacturers can rest assured that when they choose Brio Weatherfold 4s non-mortice hardware for their projects they are working with a quality product that will not let them down and will give many years of use.”
In common with other Brio products, Brio Weatherfold 4s bi-folding hardware and Timberoll 200 straight sliding hardware are systems are built to last which gives Brio the confidence to offer an unbeatable 10-year warranty on all its hardware.
