An Ultrascape specification rejunvenates Bargoed

The Greater Bargoed Community Regeneration Project has transformed the town and its surrounding communities.

The first phase of this multi-million pound scheme has completed and Ultrascape materials were key components in extensive public realm improvements throughout the town centre.

The aim of the scheme was to improve Bargoed’s transport links in the upper Rhymney Valley and to attract new investment into the area through public realm regeneration.  Ultrascape’s mortar paving system, alongside Cempoint, were specified by Capita Symonds’s project architect for all new paved surfaces throughout the town.

Work was completed by popular contractor Alun Griffiths whose site agent, Jason Shannon states: “Ultrascape materials are always easy to work with and we are very happy with the results.”

The Ultrascape mortar paving system consists of Pro-Bed HS bedding mortar, Pro-Prime slurry primer and Flowpoint flowable grout.  It is proven to be BS 7533 compliant under UKAS testing methods.  This testing assesses the performance capabilities of the materials considering compressive, flexural and adhesive bond strengths, and shrinkage amongst others.  It also ensures rigid paving is constructed using the correct procedure ensuring durability.

Ultrascape Pro-Bed HS was delivered to the Bargoed site in bulk.  Ideal where your site has limited strorage, a bulk mortar silo from Ultrascape can accommodate over 30 tonnes of material in a single load.  Their unique bulk mortar silos feature a ‘single chamber’ design, meaning that the product supplied is the same, single part, pre-blended, high quality material you find in their smaller 25kg bags.  Perfect for Bargoed’s large regeneration project.

Gun injected mortar, Cempoint is perfect for those smaller areas which can be difficult to grout.  Fast and easy to apply, with no wastage, it neatly and directly fills the paving joint.  Jointing steps throughout Bargoed was made easy.
