Accoya wood goes C2C Platinum

Accoya, the revolutionary modified wood produced by Accsys Technologies, has been awarded Cradle to Cradle (C2C) Platinum Standard certification in the Material Health category, the highest score available in Portico, Google’s Healthy Materials Program tool.

The leading modified wood met all the criteria for the Cradle to Cradle Product Innovation Institute’s Material Health certification. The wood product achieved the highest level, the platinum standard for this important category of the C2C certification criteria. Accoya already holds a C2C Gold overall rating from the institute for the past consecutive five years.

Accoya received this recent certification having demonstrated it does not contain any so called GREY or x-assessed chemicals, meaning no danger for environment and human health.  As a result Accoya is now amongst the most highly rated products in Google’s Healthy Materials Portal, Portico, earning 15 out of 16 points. This highlights Accoya as an optimized product with a product status that exceeds criteria for any Google project throughout the globe.

Paul Clegg, CEO at Accsys Technologies, said: “It’s fantastic that Accoya has once again been ranked at the highest possible level by achieving C2C Platinum Standard for its Material Health. No other building product has achieved this prestigious accolade which reflects this impressive achievement. As a company we are committed to manufacturing in a socially responsible and eco-friendly way and this award is a further validation of our sustainable products and processes.”

Accoya is one of the most advanced and sustainable wood products on the market today. It is created by using a proprietary nontoxic modification process on sustainably sourced, fast-growing woods. The end product is a new and beautiful wood that matches or exceeds the durability, stability and beauty of the very best tropical hardwoods whilst retaining the very best environmental credentials.

Being high performance, carbon negative, sustainable and low maintenance, Accoya wood is suitable for windows, doors, decking, cladding/siding and glulam structural beams and many other uses.
