Xpelair ventilation solutions has launched a new highly efficient single inline box fan, building on the success of Xpelair’s customised solutions by incorporating energy efficient technologies and modern control strategies within a standard range of nine models.
The XSD EC box fan is one of the most energy efficient models on the market, bettering the demands of the stringent ERP 2013/15 directive, which calls for tighter energy reduction targets and a commitment to reduce energy usage. The XSD delivers on both accounts, whilst future-proofing for further energy reduction requirements over the coming years.
The integral demand controlled ventilation feature on the XSD EC Box fan, coupled with a high efficiency EC motors and backward curved impellors, not only reduces energy consumption, but also optimises Indoor Air Quality (IAQ).
Xpelair’s EC technology is also speed controlled, which offers increased energy savings across the complete speed control range when compared with conventional inverter drive solutions. The result is higher energy efficiency, lower noise, better speed control and less power. Motor switching is also undertaken electronically, thus reducing component wear, heat loss and improving reliability.
Key benefits of the new XSD EC box fan include continuous speed control across the full operating range, giving an increased tolerance to high and low pressure; low noise compared to a step control motors; improved service life and a dramatically reduced power input loss, with heat reduced by a third compared to a conventional AC motors.
The ease of speed control on Xpelair’s new EC motors makes the interaction with the inbuilt Demand Controlled Ventilation (DCV) system a simple process, delivering a significant energy reduction when compared to AC Fans, which is significantly increased when the system operates under partial load.
The XSD EC box fan also comes with an inbuilt Demand Ventilation Controller (DVC), which delivers significant running cost savings over conventional time-clock controlled, fixed volume ventilation systems by automatically adjusting the ventilation rate to suit the occupancy of the ventilated area. The minimum and maximum ventilation rates are set during commissioning, and then the chosen sensors automatically control the ventilation system.
Sensor options include Constant Pressure control, PIR Sensor, CO2 Sensor, Humidity Sensor and an Air quality Sensor. The system can work with up to two 0-10v proportional input sensors.
The unit is also suitable for BMS integration, in a range of interfaces including a selection of Stop/Run and Demand/High fan speeds by switched 230VAC and volt-free inputs; indicator and alarm outputs and configurable options set by on-board switches.
