The ADCAS* campaign to highlight the problems caused by excess information will feature in a workshop aimed at stimulating new thinking about the tendering process from across the construction industry.
The workshop, organised by the Construction Industry Research and Information Association (CIRIA) will take place at Etc. Venues 1–3 Bonhill House, Bonhill Street EC2A 4BX in central London on February 17th and will carry full CPD certification.
As building projects become more complex the need for knowledge creation and sharing becomes ever more pressing. Often the only means of achieving this across the supply chain is through competitive sequential tendering – now widely recognised as inefficient and ineffective.
A recent survey revealed that 72% of construction industry believes that the tendering process was more difficult now than five years ago, with a third complaining that identifying relevant information was a problem.
The workshop will seek to initiate a fresh approach using new techniques such as Value Network Analysis. VNA is a business modeling method that focuses on relationships and collaboration making it easier for specialists to contribute their knowledge and experience to the development of the project as a whole.
Other presentations will include an analysis of the problems created by excess information by Phil Johnson from ADCAS.
Following the workshop it is anticipated that the ideas and concepts it raises can be taken further by putting them into practice on a number of live projects.
The workshop is free and open to all involved in the construction industry including clients. Online registration is at http://bit.ly/tenderingrethink
