Following the success of its ‘Good for Wood’ campaign across selected locations last year, Timber Center and Build Center are rolling out the ‘Good for Wood Too’ timber awareness programme to all branches across the country during 2011.
‘Good for Wood Too’, in conjunction with key suppliers Finnforest and BSW Timber, champions the versatility and performance of timber as a building material. It also raises awareness of the commitment Build Center and Timber Center have to sourcing high quality, sustainable products, as well as investing in value-added services and technical expertise to create a true ‘one stop shop’ for timber.
Paul Robertson, national timber development manager for Build Center and Timber Center at parent company Wolseley UK, explained: “Good for Wood Too’ is all about raising awareness of timber and how Build Center and Timber Center can help builders and tradespeople make an informed choice when it comes to sourcing products.
“Our focus in 2011 is on the best possible choice across a broad range of products, from machined softwood and MDF mouldings to manufactured joinery such as doors and roof windows, loft ladders and sheet materials such as plywood and sawn carcassing, meaning there is a suitable timber option for many everyday jobs. A lot of branches also have machining and cutting facilities available on site and can offer additional services such as timber treatment and engineered wood solutions such as trussed rafters.”
The ‘Wood Works’ and ‘Joinery Works’ internal training programmes also ensure Timber Center and Build Center staff are equipped to share their expert knowledge on timber to help customers find exactly what they need.
Paul continued: “We have a huge core range of timber products in stock and anything we don’t hold in stock we can source very quickly. Our nationwide distribution network and extensive supply chain means we can offer next day delivery.
“Timber Center and Build Center are committed supporters of responsible forest management and sustainable sources of timber, and ‘Good for Wood Too’ enables us to share this message with our customers. Not only can we provide the required certification of sustainability, but also invaluable advice on the types of timber product available for different jobs.”
Eve Johnson, Group Marketing Manager at BSW Timber, added: “We are proud to support Build Center and Timber Center’s ‘Good for Wood Too’ campaign, as it offers tradespeople the very best choice in quality and responsibly sourced timber and helps us to reach a wider audience. As part of the campaign we visit Build Centers and Timber Centers across the country to ensure that the timber product meets strict quality criteria, to ensure that the customer gets an exceptional product.”
Darren Pack, Head of Merchant Sales at Finnforest UK Ltd, agreed: “The fact that Build Center and Timber Center staff are extensively trained to understand customers’ needs was a real stand out to us. That they can provide any timber product quickly to save customers time is also invaluable and we congratulate the team for their efforts on ‘Good for Wood Too’ – it really makes a difference.”
All 12 dedicated Timber Centers and more than 150 Build Centers across the UK have FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody Certification and can offer over 6,000 products from forests which are managed sustainably. This includes all of Finnforest and BSW Timber softwood products.
