Washroom Washroom's one of a kind

Leading washroom manufacturer, Washroom Washroom, recently completed the design and installation of completely bespoke washrooms throughout a new mixed-use London commercial property.

Based in the heart of London’s West End, the newly completed building on Wigmore Street, offers retail and office space on eight floors.

Key to the success of the project, undertaken by Orms, was to ensure the modern building, which is situated within a conservation area, complemented its surroundings, while ensuring a high specification finish was achieved throughout - to set the building apart from its competition.

Washroom, alongside specialist commercial interiors contractor, Stortford Interiors, worked closely with the architectural team to craft unique, fully bespoke washrooms, manufactured to meet the architect’s exact design. A key feature of which was the full height fully integrated wall cladding system including wall mounted mirrors as well as concealed soap and towel dispensers.

The WC and urinal integrated duct panels, installed to ensure ease of access for maintenance, were faced with anodised aluminium. The anodising process, which is unique amongst surface treatments as it integrates totally with the metallic substructure rather than simply being applied to the surface of the aluminium and, as the anodic layer enhances the natural qualities of the aluminium, provides an exceptionally durable surface.

Further adding to the high specification design, Washroom installed glass partitions and full height glass faced cubicles from its Alto Kristalla range, each manufactured with acid etch mirror to the face. Complementing the look, highly durable Corian, which can be manufactured in a wide range of colours and patterns, cut to any shape and joined with inconspicuous seams to produce a perfectly neat and unified appearance, was used for the vanities.

Ivan Equihua, Project Architect for Wigmore Street at Orms, commented: “We chose to use Washroom Washroom on this project because of the flexibility of its system and the fact every aspect of the design could be delivered meaning we could be confident of completely bespoke, high specification washrooms. We’re delighted with the finish of the washrooms, which really add to the building as a whole.”

Trevor Bowers, Managing Director at Washroom Washroom said: “We’re really proud of the finished result at Wigmore Street, which is a real one off, very unique and totally bespoke design. Working so closely with the architects helped to ensure that we adapted our products to fit the design, not the other way around.”
