VSI Complete Audio Installation part of Major Technological Improvements for the Millennium Stadium.

Llanelli-based Vaughan Sound Installations (VSI) in conjunction with loudspeaker manufacturer Community UK and the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) have recently completed a major refurbishment of the audio system at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff.

The new system vastly improves the audio quality, intelligibility and coverage and integrates with the stadium’s life safety systems in the eventuality of an emergency evacuation.

VSI, an Award winning specialist in the design and integration of audio and AV systems for the professional, leisure and entertainment industry, has completed a number of stadium audio installations.  Specifically in Wales, audio systems have been installed at Llanelli RFC's Parc y Scarlets stadium and the Cardiff SWALEC stadium.

Along with the new audio system, the Millennium Stadium has undergone major technological improvements over the summer carried out by the technology services company CAE. These improvements have transformed the match-day experience, making the Millennium Stadium one of the most technologically advanced stadiums in the UK.

This includes the installation of two 90 square metre LED big screens for each end of the pitch and over four hundred high-definition LCD screens around the concourse and in hospitality suites.

Control of all communication systems in the stadium have also been consolidated to work alongside the latest TV, video and audio production support systems to create a new in-house broadcasting channel. ‘WRU TV’ allows live, behind-the-scenes and pre-recorded footage to be screened around the stadium, enhancing the match experience for fans.

Additionally the Wi-Fi has been improved for faster internet connection, allowing live events to be streamed back to television studios much quicker.

The £3million refurbishment project will prove vital during the eight football preliminaries the Millennium Stadium will host during the 2012 London Olympics.
